Boat uptimizing
More speed, better angles and easier boat handling
Boat optimizing in short
Based in Mahon, we do boat optimizing to both make it sail faster and more comfortable and safe to sail, because optimization is not just speed. Is your mast trimmed optimally, are your pivot points and tacking angles optimal and are your sail types and trim optimal? VMG (Velocity made good) is more important both upwind and downwind that pure boat speed.
A lot has happened on the development of new types of sails and especially the new types of flying sails, such as cable free code 0, which means that many boats’ sail guidance can be rethought in relation to the original sail drawings.
The way of thinking sheeting angle has also changed, so maybe a good cross jib in combination with code zero, cable free code zero or a gennaker with furl or sock, is a better solution for your boat. Sheeting angles as close as 4° and apparent wind angle upwind below 30° is nor normal on optimized boats.
With more than 40 years of experience in sailing, racing and building racing boats, servicing and optimizing boats, there is a broad knowledge to also optimize your boat.
How we optimize
- Go sailing to look at your sail and rig
- Look at your boat VMG up- and downwind
- Look at sheets- and tacking angles
- Look if the boat sails optimal
- Look at alternative sailing angles
- Talk about alternativ sails and set up
- Change of mast trim / rig tuning
- Use of low friction rings / thimbles
- Winch service
- Help with conversions
- Quotes of new sails
- Sail service
The pinpoints above is part of what we can offer to optimize your boat to sail faster and more comfortable.
